Leica binoculars and spotting scopes.

A hundred years ago, the optical company Ernst Leitz started serial production of the first binoculars. Known as the Binocle 6×18.

SSince 1907, as part of Leica Camera AG, Sport Optics has been constantly developing new models. Leica’s inventions include the first rangefinder, spotting scopes with an oblique eyepiece and the use of ridge prisms.

Even today, Leica is one of the few companies that offers binoculars with built-in range finder and adjustable magnification. Ernst Leitz II, the son of the man who gave his name to the company. So began production of our cameras in 1925. As a hunter, he was a keen observer and knew all about the requirements for perfect binoculars.

Leitz and his hunting friends developed their own product ideas, many of which found their way into production. Today our binoculars are therefore used wherever there is a need for high-quality optical performance.
